We realize many of you will have to get to the airport or on the road early on Sunday. For those of you who will be able to join us, at 10:30 we will be having brunch at a restaurant called the Ruby Slipper. There are two of these near the Quarter. We will be at the one located at 2001 Burgundy St. in the Marigny neighborhood.  It is located 13 blocks from the host hotel. (By now you realize that that is an easy walk in the Quarter). Head straight down Bourbon St. to one block past Esplanade Ave. This is the end of Bourbon St., at this point it becomes Pauger St. and changes directions slightly. Walk 2 more blocks take a right on Burgundy St. for 1 block and you are there.  We hope to see you there!

Originally, John and I had first thought that we would plan dinner for all of us; but after further investigation, we found that it is really hard to find a place to eat in the French Quarter with 50 of your closest friends and family without reserving a room and basically booking a special event.  Also, considering that you have traveled so far for us, we wanted to keep things affordable as well.

So instead, we are going to let everyone be “on your own” for dinner, and then plan to meet after dinner for drinks.  Now, there are soooooo many awesome places in NOLA to eat, although it was hard, we did manage to pick out some suggestions  for you that are in the French Quarter and in walking distance from the host hotel.  Or, you can just walk into any place smelling good as you walk the Quarter (most restaurants will have there menu posted in their window)!

If you use one of these suggested below or if you find something else you like online, etc., we recommend calling for a reservation.  Some will take them, some wont.  Better safe than sorry!

We will meet for drinks at 8:00PM at the Bourbon O Bar, which is the Bar located in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, located 71 7 Orleans Street. So, plan to eat early if you can. From there, who knows!

 $= under $10
$$= $11-$30
$$$= $31-$60

 NOLA $$$

NOLA is one of Emril's restaurants....very popular and very good.  Definitely make a reservation.  This is where John and I will be going.

The next 3 have RAVE reviews on Yelp, and Trip Advisor, although I have never dined at any of them (but plan to before we leave NOLA)

 Vacherie $$, http://vacherierestaurant.com/

GW Fins $$$  (Mostly all seafood), http://gwfins.com/

 Cafe Amelie $$, http://www.cafeamelie.com/

 Acme Oyster Bar $$, http://www.acmeoyster.com/menu_fq

Ok I had to add this one, because it is one of my favorite places.   There are certainly other places to get them, but if you need to get your Oysters, crawfish, or PoBoys on, this is one of NOLA's traditions. This is a very very casual "bar" type place. BE PREPARED TO STAND IN LINE.

If you plan to drive to NOLA, there are a couple of different parking options for you.

The first is your hotel. This is going to be the most expensive by far. At the Sheraton Four Points they charge $30 a day which includes in/out privileges.  However, they don’t guarantee spaces.

The second is a lot in Marigny on the edge of the Quarter. It is 14 blocks from the Sheraton Four Points but is a fairly easy walk (NOLA blocks are short). The cost of this lot is only $10 per day. This lot is at 500 Marigny St. 70117.

The third option is in the Garden District.  This one is further away; but it is one block off the street car line. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to get to the Quarter on the streetcar from here and is a very pretty ride. It is $15 per day. Plus your street car ticket. $1.25.  This lot is located at 735 Camp St. 70112.

The thing to remember is that the Quarter is very walkable! The streets are very narrow so car traffic is always horrible and street parking is almost non-existent! Once you have dropped your bags at the hotel you REALLY wont need your vehicle again until you leave. Everything is right outside your door or only a short stroll.

There are other lots in the Quarter but on the weekends they charge almost as much as the hotels. So plan ahead!
